i heart moop

my nerdy boyfriend and his friend were planning on going to the comicon in pittsburgh and they invited me along. while i love my nerdy boyfriend, comics aren't exactly my thing. so i debated for a while about going and finally i said yes. yes to pittsburgh, no to the comicon. i had other plans for my day in pittsburgh. i was going to moop!!
moop is a husband and wife owned company that hand makes bags for women, men and children. they truly have a bag for every need and every budget. when visiting moop i talked to wendy downs, the wife of the operation, about the bags and a little bit about the process of their business. wendy was incredibly sweet and kind. she showed me around and let me take pictures. i had a fantastic time!
moop has been getting a lot of blog coverage lately and i'm glad to join in that crowd. joanne goddard of a cup of joe did a moop giveaway recently. of course i entered but so didn't over 1500 other people! naturally nina also did a post recently about her obsession for bags and put up the moop market bag. there are even more examples here, here, and here.
you can learn more about the moop handmade process by visiting their website or the moop blog. and finally, here are the beauties i took home with me... the organic market bag and the clutch. i heart moop!

It's good to see smaller companies letting people do Mr. Rodgers tours!
Nice bags for the female persuasion, but as a male bag-whore, I do not think I would be comfortable enough with my manhood carrying around any of the bags I see on their site.

How cool that you got a personal, behind-the-scenes look at the business! And came home with super cute bags too! :)

oh yeah!! those last two beauties went home with me!! :) i needed something cute & sturdy to carry my massage therapy text books in so the market bag worked perfectly for that. i love small things so i couldn't pass up the clutch!

OMG - I LOVE MOOP.

I bought their market bag about a year ago, and it is really awesome. I am so glad you were able to visit them.

These bags are so pretty! I love the combination of the light gray and yellow -- so cute! Their studio looks cool, too. Lucky you, with a cute new bag & clutch! :o)

Great bags! The store name reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George is playing trivial pursuit with the bubble boy and there is a typo on the answer card and it says the Moops instead of the Moors.

Gorgeous bags! I love your choices. I've been dropping some hints about the letter bag; we'll see if any of them make it through my husband's purse filter. =)

All these goodies! I really enjoy your special posts about the wonderful places you find in WV and PA. You should come over here to the UK and see what sort of wonderful hidden places you can find!
