i got a little late start on jamie ridler's "the next chapter: wreck this journal" due to getting my copy of the book in the mail today. i was so excited! this is such a compelling task - i think we are all a little hesitant to wreck a book of any kind. at least i know i am!
so, after flipping through the book seeing what i wanted to do first i immediately went for the "chew on this" page. instead of ripping the page out, chewing it up and then spitting it out, i went for a different approach...
with the taste of paper in my mouth, i decided to explore around a little bit more. i wanted to rip it up!!
i had so much fun just letting go and really getting into the book. i can't wait to see where this journey takes us.

I love the photo of you biting into the book! You really got in there and did some good "wrecking!" How freeing!! I'm excited to be on this journey with you and I look forward to your future wrecking!!
ooh i've been wanting to try this journal out too!!
I'm hungry for a nibble on that journal!
Oh girl! You are living on the edge! Wonderful! And so happy you've cracked your spine too! Now that sciatic nerve is another story - yikes! I suffer too, it stops me in my tracks, literally. Good luck on that exam and I don't bounce my posts off anyone before I put them up on my blog, sometimes that's not a good thing! But I try to never post something that's too negative - I'll wait a day and re-read it first.
That's just so totally freakin' awesome I don't even know where to start!
Great start, Melita! Get out the wrecking ball! Enjoy!
I love the way you're tearing into it! I may have to go out and get Wreck this Journal on my lunch break today! Rock on! (Or should I say, wreck on!?)
Wow, not only did you chew on it, you took it to another level! Go Giiirrrlllll!
WOW! You went straight for the *deep* wreckage!! I keep flipping past those pages...just not quite ready for the whole tearing thing...although I did punch the holes with a pencil!!
Wreck on, sistah! Wreck on!! :)
Hi, Melita, I love your blogs and wanted to say welcome to the happyluau and thank you for your comment. I subscribed to BOTH your blogs! Guess what, I lived in Morgantown in the late 70's, early 80's. I'm a WVU graduate in statistics, and so BOTH of your blogs are of interest to me.
How Morgantown has changed in the last almost 30 years. But some things are probably the same. I have great memories from those days.
Anyway, I'm glad you visited my blog and I'll be following you on this fun and amazing WTJ journey!
Blessings, Olivia
You did good, girl!
I took my journal to the shower and I'm still waiting for it to dry out!
The head of my household thinks I'm completly off my rocker. hmmmmm. Could be he is right!
Keep on wrecking!
Barb:-)
Yeah!!! You go girl!! I totally got into the ripping thing, too... It was like once I started, I couldn't stop! :-)
Can't wait to see where this journey takes all of us:)
That's exactly what I was going to do with my "Chew On This" page - take a big bite outta the book, instead of tearing the page out and chewing on the whole thing. Great minds think alike! :)
You ripped it up and it looks great! And you took a bite and are still here so I guess I might taste a bit of my WTJ this week, we shall see:)
