artist's date

i've been in such a gmat rut lately that i have been pretty much letting everything else go. amongst the hundred other things one of them was my bookcase that is in our hallway. i couldn't bare to go past it any more. so, instead of making a "task" out of it, i turned it into an artist's date.

here is the "before" shot (compete with books strewn about everywhere and piled high on the floor in front of the bookcase:
here is the "after" pic:
now for the up close shots of the shelves first is my buddhism shelf:
next is the all things french and yoga shelf:
and last is the bottom 3 shelves that include biography, fiction, literature, travel books, gardening and reference.
i love when things are in their places, don't you?! if you have any questions about my books or can't see what a specific book is and want to know the title, let me know. i'll be happy to share what's on my bookcase with you :)

Fabulous idea for an Artist's date!
Being organized is such a good feeling. Puts you in a better frame of mind to um.......study for your GMAT!

Oooh, I love your buddhism shelf!! The mini prayer flags are so cute!
Great idea for an artist date! I SO need to do some serious organizing myself!

I love this! What a great job. Do you find that more books fit with some of them being stacked on top of eachother? This has inspired me to organize my own shelves!

Love the themed sections. Do I spy a book called "Talk with/to a snail"? I am intrigued.... is it any good?

i definitely find more room on the bookshelves if i stack the smaller (mass market size or trade size) books. plus it breaks up the look which is nice.

yes - there is a book called "talk to the snail: ten commandments for understanding the french" by stephen clarke. he is the guy that wrote the "merde" series: "a year in merde," "merde happens," and "in the merde for love." i don't have any of those yet, but are on my list to get!

You KNOW I love it.
Organization = my porn :)

I just got your email. Yay!
I will write back soon.
I am "supposed" to be studying now.
Funny how blogging tends to get in the way haha .

Talk to you soon!

alas, i should be studying too, but you are totally right - blogs, tweets, etc totally distract me :)

Love how turned the task into an artist date. i have been trying to do more of that lately and it really helps. it's all about perspective, right?

Melita said...

i think everything is about perspective. lol, i just made doing the dishes fun (if that's possible).

Sorry if this is a double post. The internet connection went down just as I pressed publish!

Have heard of "A year in merde" but not read it - may add to my reading list for my holiday this September.

Please share how to make dishwashing fun...!

upbeat tunes and go to it lol. honestly, i'd rather do anything than dishes, i loathe them!!

This was so inspiring! I know making order out of chaos is a great way to spark my creativity, thanks for reminding me.

I echo everything that everyone else said about turning your cleaning into an Artist Date. Such a good idea - that definitely gives me a new perspective on how to approach deep cleaning my room tomorrow.

The fact that your one shelf combines French and yoga together? So fabulous. I love that I can pick out "Hip Tranquil Chick" from all the way over here!
