friday evening practice

i almost started typing "furday evening practice" which would totally be true. this is me and the clan sharing practice. hugs & namaste!

bed day

the air has a crispness to it today that is a foreshadowing of what is to come. i love fall and all of it's beauty.

i've declared today a bed day. other than my chiropractor appointment and my massage appointment, i will send the day in bed. yes, other things will try to work their way into my day (and that has already proven to be so with a early text asking if i could do a massage later today) but i have to be selfish with my time today and take care of me.

the past two days my energy has been rather low. i'm always on the go, go, go! and i think my body is just letting me know, 'ay lady, you need to slow down, rest and rejuvenate.' so today, i will listen to my body and give it what it needs.

today's festivities will include some major cuddle time with the snuggly


and a few forceful cuddles with the not so snuggly

this friday was a delicious treat. i had the morning off and had planned on going to class this afternoon but due to a scheduling mix up at school i ended up getting the entire day off! this was a welcome surprise as it's the first friday i've had off in months & months and it's the first day i've had off in over 3 weeks.

today i enjoyed:

*sleeping in
*watching the beautiful snow that fell all day (i know a lot of people are upset about more snow but not moi, i love it!)
*a huge nap
*watching a little food network (food network & the travel channels are my favs)
*looking through my newest cookbook "eat taste heal: an ayurvedic guidebook and cookbook for modern living"
*enjoying h2o with a slice of organic lemon
*writing with my new sakura souffle 3-d opaque puffy ink pens (thanks for the recommendation stephanie)
*snuggling with my kitties and pup
*relaxing around the house not worrying about the to-dos (they will be there tomorrow)
*noshing on some tagalongs (girl scout cookie time!)
*observing the ongoing kitteh antics....

i got my hair freshened up this evening. i've been rocking pink in my hair (a la inspiration - kimberly wilson) since june. i decided to try something different this evening. i got pink & purple added in!! i've been calling it my rainbow brite hair or my easter egg hair. ;)

meet the family

well, it's time i introduce the family. you've seen pictures of me and ryan before (and some of the fur babies) but this is ALL of the fur babies! together, ryan and i have 5 fur babies. i came into the relationship with 3 (2 cats and 1 dog) and he came into it with 2 (1 cat and 1 dog). luckily they all get along (most of the time). so, without further ado, let me introduce you to the family....

dooty is the love of my life! he is my 10 year old boy. he has been with me through thick and thin (literally and figuratively) . i don't know what i'd do without him!!

sanjay is my other baby boy. he is 3 years old. he is the player of the family. he plays fetch with these little pompoms we have, jumps 3/4 of the door frame, and sounds like a horse when he gallops through the house. no wonder he is so skinny!!

rawkus (ryan's spelling of ruckus) and clearly named that for a reason. this boy may look cute (which he is) but he is mean!! i mean MEAN, no kidding. we love him despite his assholish ways. rawkus is somewhere around 8 years old. ryan isn't for sure since rawkus was a stray when he saved him from the cruel outside world.

cadyn is my 9 year old miniature pincher/rat terrier. her breed is technically a "min pin rat." i got cadyn when she was able to fit in my hand she was so small. my ex-husband picked her out. after we separated i kept her because there was no way i would ever separate her and dooty. they are best buddies!

lastly, we have sadeye (ryan's spelling for sadie) but pretty fitting since she's a 3/4 basset 1/4 beagle. she does have a little bit of sad eyes due to the saggy-ness of the basset. sadie (as i spell it) is 6 years old. she's quite the stubborn-headed girl most of the time but we love her anyways.

nose piercing and dooty the cat turns 10

two weeks ago i found the courage to get my nose pierced. i have thrown around the idea for years. after reading that yogadiva had done it, i was inspired to do it myself, once and for all. when i look at myself in the mirror i feel like it has always been there. it is a part of me now and i love it!! thank you yogadiva for helping me find the courage to go through with it!

my loving, sweet, and adorable cat dooty just turned 10!! he has been there for me through so much. i have gone through hurricanes, moving around a lot, a messy divorce, several boyfriends after the divorce, and finally moving in with my current boyfriend who had a cat and a dog of his own already. (between the two of us we have a small petting zoo, but that is another post entirely).

dooty is the true love of my life. no matter what happens, he is by my side. no matter what i look like, what i wear, how much weight i've gained over the years, he still loves me the same. he is pure therapy for me. he soothes me on the soul level. (in the pics below he looks like he isn't exactly thrilled to be having his picture taken).
