hurricane sandy relief donation yoga & meditation class

for some, yoga is a way for us to take time for ourselves so that we can take care of others.  some of us see yoga as a sacred practice where we set our intention or dedication to offer the energy that we generate in our class to give it away to someone or something higher than ourselves.  the beautiful thing about yoga is that it can be both things simultaneously.

if this is something that resonates with you, then i hope you can join the hurricane sandy relief donation yoga & meditation class on sunday, november 18th from 11am-12:30pm.

i will be teaching a creative all-level flow based yoga class finishing out in a seated meditation sending our energy to all lives that were affected by hurricane sandy.

100% of your donations will go directly to the salvation army & the humane society.  the salvation army is serving food, providing cleanup kits and offering emotional & spiritual support to those affected in the northeast and mid-atlantic areas.  the humane society is coordinating animal rescue efforts, shelter care and reunions with pet owners in the new york and new jersey areas.

please show your support for all beings affected as well as benefitting your own body & mind.

i will be handling ALL donations.  suggested donation $20.  cash or check donations only please.  (make checks payable to melita mollohan. )

if you will be out of town or unable to attend the donation class you can be there in spirit by donate any amount directly to me.

if you have any questions, please email melita at melitamollohan@gmail.com or call 304-288-0996.

meditation during negative times

the other day i had a comment on my blogging in waves post about how meditation is the last thing on your mind when you are in the thick of a negative situation or crisis.

do you, lovely readers, also feel this way and have any thoughts and/or suggestions as to how to get back into the groove of meditation when your mind doesn't seem to be in the right space?

merci in advance!!

40 days of yoga day 30

today was my lucky day! a co-worker at blissblissbliss teaches a meditation class right after my tuesday morning vinyasa class. i haven't been able to take her class because i usually have massage clients right after my yoga class. but today was different. today i didn't have a massage scheduled right after my yoga & i got to take her class and it was amazing!! she is such a wonderful teacher! i got in my 15 minutes of yoga + about 40 minutes of a guided chakra meditation. it was exactly what i needed. i have felt so grounded and present in all of my actions today. if you are local, i can't recommend amy's meditation class enough.

now off to enjoy some homemade chai!!

hugs & namaste

every full moon people from all over the world are meditating simultaneously for world peace. take a moment whether you are, on your meditation pillow or waiting in line, bring peace to yourself and send that peace through out the world. if you are with a friend share it with a friend. link up with sages from the himalayas and people world wide as one collective vision for peace. everything begins with a thought.

east coast time starts at 10pm. namaste

this info came to me by way of an email.

morning routine

morning rituals are so sought after. well, today i started my very own.

~ i rise just before dawn

~ i light a candle

~ i repeat my mantra 108 times using my mala beads

~ i drink a mug of warm water w/ a slice of organic lemon

~ i do some yoga to get my body awake

~ i do a seated meditation

~ then i eat a healthy breakfast and sip on some green tea

it really makes for a zenful start to my day.

today just also happens to be the day i started my cleanse. no, nothing crazy like the master cleanse. my body just doesn't handle extreme cleanses well. i am keeping it simple...

~ tiao he cleanse (the only supplements i am currently using & according to the box it is supposed to last 15 days)

~ drinking more water with lots of organic lemons

~ eating more sensible meals (watching portions)

~ cutting out red meat, coffee (maybe a sip or two here and there but i'm more of a tea drinker anyways), alcohol, sugary & processed foods, and fried foods.

~ eating more fresh fruits & veggies and more whole grains

~ learning more about combining food - specifically in ayurvedic tradition (if anyone can suggest anything here i'd be most grateful)

~ getting more exercise

~ and taking better care of me

i will be sure to keep you all up to date about how my morning ritual and cleanse is going. tell me, have any of you ever done a cleanse, what were your outcomes? also, how about those of you who have a morning ritual... do tell :)
