morning routine

morning rituals are so sought after. well, today i started my very own.

~ i rise just before dawn

~ i light a candle

~ i repeat my mantra 108 times using my mala beads

~ i drink a mug of warm water w/ a slice of organic lemon

~ i do some yoga to get my body awake

~ i do a seated meditation

~ then i eat a healthy breakfast and sip on some green tea

it really makes for a zenful start to my day.

today just also happens to be the day i started my cleanse. no, nothing crazy like the master cleanse. my body just doesn't handle extreme cleanses well. i am keeping it simple...

~ tiao he cleanse (the only supplements i am currently using & according to the box it is supposed to last 15 days)

~ drinking more water with lots of organic lemons

~ eating more sensible meals (watching portions)

~ cutting out red meat, coffee (maybe a sip or two here and there but i'm more of a tea drinker anyways), alcohol, sugary & processed foods, and fried foods.

~ eating more fresh fruits & veggies and more whole grains

~ learning more about combining food - specifically in ayurvedic tradition (if anyone can suggest anything here i'd be most grateful)

~ getting more exercise

~ and taking better care of me

i will be sure to keep you all up to date about how my morning ritual and cleanse is going. tell me, have any of you ever done a cleanse, what were your outcomes? also, how about those of you who have a morning ritual... do tell :)

awesome! sounds like a great way to start the day before anyone else gets a piece of it.

with regards to ayurveda...you should read "absolute beauty" by pratima raichur. very interesting book, with a quiz to help you discover your dosha, and suggestions to balance them.

Hey honey! Sounds like a great morning ritual. Mine is an ever-evolving work in progress! It's inspiring to hear your ideas.

The cleanse sounds great too. You may already be familiar with Robyn of This is Life (http://robyn-michelle-lee.blogspot.com/). She is a guest blogger for Kimberly Wilson, and she is writing an ayurvedic cookbook! You two should talk!

Ahhh. this makes me just breathe with delight! I love morning rituals - the process slows down the entire day. I've been slacking on my morning ritual and I'm really sad about that. This post might just be my motivation to get started again. I love waking up to yoga, knitting, and kombucha.

Sounds a perfect way to start the day....

I no longer get a gradual awakening into the day but I always stretch when I get out of bed, have a cup of tea (with lemon - reminds me of European holidays) and make sure that I have a nutrious brekkie to set me up for the day.

wow, to a chaotic morning riser like me, that is a huge list--i am so admiring you right now but honestly, i feel like i could never do it!!!

the water with lemon idea, amazing. i can do that.

one tiny step at a time.

thanks for sharing all that's holding you right now. sounds like you're setting up to refresh your system for a new season. exciting exciting.

Would love to hear more on food combining. I have tried it a couple of times, but found a lot of the information to be conflicting.

Your morning ritual sounds lovely :)

Wow! My morning routine consists of me hitting snooze (at minimum 4 times) rolling out of bed at the last minute. Hopping in the shower scrub scrub scrub throw my hair in a pony tail throw on some make up and by then it's about 4 minutes until I have to be at work. Luckily I work where I work and only have to walk across the parking lot to my office. :0)

I should really change this. It's probably the reason my days are just blah.

That is ABSOLUTELY beautiful. Mornings, I believe, will be my final obstacle to peaceful living. I am horrible about getting up...even if I know logically I have a beautiful routine such as this to look foward to, my body just says "nope".

I'll look forward to updates on how all of this is going - you are inspiring!!

I am going to try something like this when I get settled into my new home. I've been so out of sorts, not even doing my yoga, that you've given me a beautiful idea on how to balance myself again. Thanks hon.
